Watercooling outside of AIOs can seem like a very daunting task for even the most accomplished of DIY-ers. Molding the tubing, measuring, buying every component is a huge time investment and could lead to disastrous results if done incorrectly. This barrier to entry is something which Corsair has solved with its new Hydro X initiative and makes it possible for even the most novice of DIY-ers to easily and safely build a watercooled PC. How? Well, read on to find out.
Corsair’s Hydro X automates loop calculations, measurements and component lists to take the guess work out of DIY water cooling
So just how easy it is to water cool your PC using Corsair’s Hydro X? Well, all you need to do is head on over to Corsair’s Hydro X custom cooling configurator and key in your PC specs (like the case, GPU, etc) and well, it will do all the measurements for you and show you exactly what you need to buy. It even gives you the option to virtually move around and play with the design. As of right now Corsair says that 85%+ of their cases and up to 40% of third party cases are supported.
Its super nice of Corsair to support third party cases as well. I did a quick search for NZXT and their latest lineup seems to be supported by the configurator.. We tried it out during our visit to their booth and it appeared to work flawlessly, ending with giving us a result of the SKU codes that we need to go buy. The parts themselves are also amazing, featuring the standard hard tubing design that makes water cooled PCs so iconic.
So without further ado, here are rest of the pictures we took during our visit, showcasing the power of the tool and the look that Hydro X is able to give.
Not every GPU is supported by water block, but the good thing is, if your GPU is not supported, it will simply tell you before hand instead of you buying a part that you cannot use.
I personally really fancied the white aesthetic of the Hydro X series, but it has full support for RGB so if you are into that nonsense, you can do that as well.
The reservoirs also look great.
All in all, even if you have no experience or knowledge of building water loops, you can now build one safely (with basic assembly skills) and quickly. Corsair showed off some great looking water loop that look as if they were created by veterans. We also took pictures of some of the parts from the lineup that were on display including waterblocks, sleeves, tubes and of course multi colored coolant for the reservoirs.
