Control Post-Launch Roadmap Revealed, New Mode Coming This Year, Two Expansions in 2020

The launch of Control didn’t go quite as smoothly as it could have, particularly on consoles, but developer Remedy Entertainment has been addressing the game’s performance issues and is now moving forward on a slate of post-launch content. This year, Control will be getting a photo mode and challenging new “Expeditions” missions, and next year a couple full expansions are on the way. Wait, is that an itty bitty Alan Wake there in the “W” from AWE? Hmmm, Wake, AWE…what are you up to Remedy? Here’s a few more details about Expeditions mode and those expansions:

  • New Game Mode – In December, we will release a new game mode for Control that we are currently calling Expeditions. This will be a challenging new end-game mode in which Jesse must help Security Chief Arish explore the mysterious Formation and its strange surroundings. Here you will face the some the greatest challenges that the Oldest House can throw at you. You will need the best gear and abilities to survive. Expeditions is free for all players.
  • Expansion Pack 1 ‘The Foundation’ – Explore the roots of the Oldest House and discover secrets unknown even to the Bureau. The Foundation doors are open, but some things should remain buried. The Foundation includes new story content and side missions as well as new weapons and mods inspired by the Oldest House’s mysterious origins.
  • Expansion Pack 2 ‘AWE’ – The Bureau studied its most dangerous Altered World Events in this lost sector. The records were sealed, the objects contained, and their powers abandoned. Now, the sector is breached and the objects are loose. AWE brings new story content and side missions as well as new weapons and mods to the world of Control.

Photo Mode and Expeditions will be free for all players, while The Foundation and AWE expansions will require you to pony up for Control’s $25 season pass. A recently leak revealed one of the expansions may focus on Helen Marshall, one of the more important, yet mysterious characters you run across during the game’s core campaign.

Control is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
