Modern Warfare’s Launch Trailer Delivers Shock, Awe, and Guys in Exosuits

The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still more than a couple weeks away, but Activision and developer Infinity Ward have just released a launch trailer for the game. It mostly focuses on the game’s single-player campaign, but don’t expect a lot of talking heads discussing the moral complexities of war in the 21st century. Activision has promised a return to the edgier storytelling of earlier Modern Warfare games, but this trailer is all action, delivering plenty of shock and awe, as well as a glimpse at some of the game’s vehicles and what appears to be guys in heavily-armed exosuits. Oh, and this is all set to “Enter the Sandman” by Metallica – for better or worse, old-school CoD is back. Check out the trailer, below.

You can expect new info about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this week, as Activision has promised details about the game’s Special Ops co-op modes. We know Survival Mode will be PS4 exclusive for a year, but otherwise, details on Spec Ops have been scant, so it will be interesting to see what’s in store.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare storms onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 25.
