PlayStation 5 $400/$500 Price Tag Confirmed, Release Date for US and Europe Different

Last week Microsoft finally announced a release date and price for the Xbox Series X and S, and since then people have been waiting with barely bated breath for Sony to follow suit. Previously, we’d heard rumors that both the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 would both be launching in November, so Sony couldn’t sit on their announcement much longer!

Well, today during their latest PlayStation 5 digital showcase, Sony finally spilled the beans. If you’ve got around 40 minutes to spare, you can check out the full presentation, below. Otherwise, scroll on down for the relevant details.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Coming First To PlayStation 5 With Exclusive Unique DualSense Features

As we previously reported, Sony is essentially matching the price of the Xbox Series X/S – the all-digital PS5 model will cost $400/€400, while the PS5 model with a UHD blu-ray drive will cost $500/€500. Sony has also confirmed prices for some of their PS5 accessories, including…

  • DualSense Wireless Controller (standalone) – $70/€70
  • Pulse 3D wireless headset – $100/€100
  • HD Camera  with dual 1080p lenses – $60/€60
  • Media Remote – $30/€30
  • DualSense Charging Station – $30/€30

The Demon’s Souls remake, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Destruction All-Stars, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are your first-party Day One launch titles, and they’ll cost between $50 and $70 (it seems like Sony is indulging in the next-gen price hike along with most other AAA publishers). It’s also been confirmed that some games, like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are also coming out on PS4.

The PlayStation 5 hits shelves on November 12 in the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world gets their hands on the console on November 19. According to Sony, pre-orders will be “starting as early as tomorrow” at “select retailers,” so move fast if you want to snag one! Now that the PS5 has finally been priced and dated, will you be picking one up? Or are you still not convinced?
